Installation

The Controller Application "ButterflyNet" must be installed first and configure it. Then install the Client Applications "ButterFlyNode". The Clients need to know which IP Address the Controller is to get its information from via TCPIP.

System Requirements:

Controller - Operating System: Windows98, WindowsME, WindowsNT4, Windows2000, Windows2003, WindowsXP, WindowsVista, Windows 7, Windows 8

Clients:
Windows, OSX, Linux
CPU: Intel, AMD, (OSX and Linux for the Client)
CPU Speed: Pentium 4 1.5ghz or better
RAM:
~256 MB for Controller, ~25 MB for Client (~55 MB with Client Viewer feature)

A shared network directory that the Controller and Clients can access.
LightWave 3D or Maya (Professional versions)
-or- other 3D Applications supported (check here)

A Static IP address or DHCP Name for the Controller that the Client machines can locate (ping).

NOTE: Windows 98/NT/2000/XP/Vista (Workstation) only support 10 connects per Shared path, so if you want to have more then 10 nodes share a directory, you will need to use a different file server Like:  Linux with Samba (Red Hat) or Windows NT Server.

NOTE: Windows® XP Home Edition is a consumer operating system which only supports 5 peer to peer networking computers and it does NOT support advanced networking such as domain authentication.
